Web Site Wealth

Stake Your Claim on The Internet

Make money on the Internet: is it the gold rush and the oil boom all over again? You've heard the hype and seen the casualties, and the only question you have is:

Can you really make money on the Internet?

Absolutely...if you know what you're doing.

To make money on the Internet, you'll need to have the same components as any competitive business: a good product, a clean store (web site) and plenty of traffic. Add customer service, an efficient fulfillment system, a solid marketing plan, and you have yourself a winner!

But make no bones about it: it does take work. You just don't get paid for showing up. If you think you can just slap up a web site and wait for the dough to roll in, you're going to be sorely disappointed. Take the time to do it right from the start, and you'll position yourself for success.

Having said that, here are a few ideas to set you on the right path:

  • Sell a quality product or service. You don't have to be a Fortune 500 company to have a good product; you just need a passion for what you're doing, and a target market with money that wants what you have. Do your research, then find and offer great goods.

  • Use the Internet to supplement your existing retail establishment. Whether you sell jelly beans, rare books, or tropical fish, you can find a global audience if you take your product to the web.

  • Harness the medium for more exposure. Celebrities, speakers, and even singles put up web sites to offer more information about themselves. If you're a writer, speaker, business owner, professional, etc., put up a web site with your profile, offering links to products or speaking engagements.

So what's the secret to Internet success? A good product, a clean web site, and traffic. Lots of traffic.
